Heydon School, District number 21, is one of the older districts of Polk County, dating back before the Civil War. It was first known as Holt School. The name was changed in 1886 to Hazelwood and changed to Heydon in 1900. Heydon School closed in 1952. This information was taken from "History of Heydon School".
